We, at Southeastern Neuroscience Institute (SNI), specialize in balance medicine. As a group, we wanted to become proficient at understanding balance and dizziness and hopefully, prevent our patients from falling. We undertook a course of study in the anatomy and physiology important to the neurology of dizziness and imbalance. We read widely in the medical literature, took courses, worked with various types of VNG equipment and joined with our colleagues in various organizations to become proficient. We even did research in imbalance in the elderly and published one small paper in the American Journal of Balance Medicine. We have prepared a textbook on the evaluation and treatment of the dizzy patient, which is now in progress. Drs. Green, Leon-Barth and Warner are all now board certified by the American Board of Balance Medicine, as is Mr. Rick Griffin, our Chief Registered Balance Technologist at Southeastern Neuroscience Institute. Mr. Sam Rosa , a technologist is in the process of becoming certified. We have a dedicated Secure Balance laboratory at Southeastern Neuroscience where we not only evaluate and treat our own dizzy patients, but also teach other physicians and technologists how to understand balance disorders, diagnose and treat them. We provide national training courses for other doctors and technicians as to treatment of balance disorders and techniques for proper diagnosis. We are widely recognized in the field. Dr. Green has been elected by his peers as President of the American Academy of Balance Medicine in 2004. We have also been leaders in the field of pain treatment by utilizing infrared (light emitting diode) therapy for the last 8 years. In fact, Dr. Green and Dr. Fralicker published a textbook on this technology and have taught in this field technology through the American Academy of Pain Management. They have written refereed medical literature and published many articles regarding the use of infrared light energy for pain treatment and increased healing. We, at Southeastern Neuroscience Institute, are dedicated to useful, non-invasive technologies to help our patients. Please feel free to contact us at: |
